Wolfe, previously deputy executive director, has led the port on a temporary basis since Jan. 1 following the departure of former Executive Director Tim Farrell.
Wolfe has served as the deputy executive director of the Port of Tacoma since June 2005. Prior to joining the port, he served for two years as the executive director of the Port of Olympia, and before that as Olympia’s director of operations and marine terminal general manager.
He also spent 10 years with Maersk Sealand-APM Terminals in Tacoma, including the terminal’s operations manager.
An executive search firm hired by the port in March received 59 applications for the job. The other finalists selected by the Port Commission were:
' Brian Boyle, a former Ports America executive. Ports America is the largest private terminal operator in the United States.
' Bernard Groseclose, former chief executive of the South Carolina State Port Authority.
' Ned LaGoy, an executive with Sea Star Shipping in Puerto Rico.
' Ali Nikkhoo, a former shipping line and trucking company executive.
The five finalists met with customers, employees and the community in addition to interviewing with the Port Commission.
Wolfe and the port commission will now negotiate a final contract, the port said.
