Port software veterans launch new firm

Two veterans of the port technology industry have launched a new company they say will offer new and better solutions for managing container moves at port terminals.

Catherine Tiersten, former chief operating officer of Global Transportation Solutions LLC, a terminal management software reseller and implementation company, and Steven W. Bushey, former president of Americas Systems Inc., a transportation software developer acquired by Maersk Data Inc. in 2002, have launched operations at a new company called TransTech Partners LLC.

A company statement said TransTech will specialize in international container shipping information technology. The company will work with ocean carriers, terminal and depot operators, port authorities, exporters and importers to improve logistics through better information management.

The two founders said the new technology will help integrate business goals with day-to-day operating functions.

“In today’s highly competitive transportation market, strategic use of information is critical to success,” Tiersten said. “If your strategic business objectives point you in one direction, your IT strategy needs to be aligned to support those business initiatives.”
