Ports of Busan, Dafeng sign MOU

Korea’s Busan Port Authority (BPA) last Friday signed an agreement to establish cooperative ties with Dafeng Port in China’s Jiangsu Province.

The Korean port said growth at Dafeng, located between the major ports of Qingdao and Shanghai, has been hampered by a lack of facilities, but has good potential due to a number of large-scaled manufacturing firms clustering in the area.

“Close cooperation with small ports in China plays pivotal role in attracting more transshipment cargo to Busan Port, which was the basic reason for signing MOU with Dafeng Port,” the BPA said.

Korea is one of the three major trading partners of the Jiangsu Province with machinery, electronics, petrochemicals, and vehicles being the main products moved.
