Ports of Portland, Vancouver to join forces
Breaking with tradition, the ports of Portland, Ore., and Vancouver, Wash., plan to jointly market their activities and develop joint facilities.
The two Pacific Northwest ports have notified a “Port of Portland/Port of Vancouver Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement” to the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission.
The proposed agreement would authorize the ports to engage in joint marketing activities and joint facility development in accordance with a stated cost and revenue sharing formula.
The two ports have requested an expedited review by the regulator.
