Produce companies prepare for origin labeling

United Fresh Produce Association, the Washington-based trade group for fruit and vegetable growers, has published a guide to help the industry prepare for compliance with U.S. origin labeling laws, effective Sept. 30.

The association’s Associate Counsel Autumn Veazey wrote the guide, which covers the legal requirements of the origin-labeling rule, “with advice for every segment of the produce supply chain from grower-shippers to retailers.”

The guide, What you need to know about complying with country of origin labeling rules, is available free to United Fresh members, and $25 for non-members. For more information, access United Fresh’s Web site at www.unitedfresh.org.
