Project forwarder group opens new member categories
The Project Professionals Group, a freight forwarder network specializing in outsized and heavy-lift cargoes, has established new 'project support' membership categories.
The categories, which were approved at the group's July 29-Aug. 1 meeting in Corpus Christi, Texas, will include stevedores, owners of heavy haulage and multi-axle trailers, vessel and aircraft operators, air cargo handling specialists, crane companies, barge operators, port authorities, surveyors, insurance companies, export packers and other service providers to the heavy-lift forwarding industry.
Kevin Stephens, PPG's general manager, said the new membership categories make the network a 'truly one-stop shop for the freight forwarding industry allowing reputable third-party providers a unique opportunity to network and integrate their services.'
He added there will be one member per category in each major city or region and the service provider in the new membership category must not be in conflict with PPG's existing members or compete against them in project forwarding.
