project44 offers LTL transit time API

Technology provider project44, which aims to transition the freight industry from antiquated EDI communications to API, is providing a new connection that gives less-than-truckload carriers more flexibility in conveying transit times to customers.    The application programming interface transportation platform project44 this week started a new initiative to offer free less-than-truckload transit time APIs to carriers.
   “With the Transit Time API enabled, LTL carriers are able to revise their transit time data on their own schedule, managing transit times in their own database and then transmitting that information via project44 directly to potential customers,” the Chicago-based company said. “As carriers supply more transit times that reflect live conditions, shipper and 3PL users will have increased visibility and confidence in the carrier selection process.”
   The service will be provided free of charge for any shipper and 3PL that signs up for project44’s new Transit Time API by the end of 2016. The technology company doesn’t charge to connect carriers via API.
   “Technology should facilitate the flow of information throughout the freight industry, strategically driving the industry forward with increased efficiency,” said Tommy Barnes, president of project44. “Our customers continue to request we add new APIs to remove manual activities that are unnecessarily cumbersome and expensive with legacy systems.”
   project44 is designed to be a connective hub between carriers, shippers and 3PLs, reconfiguring the connections that tie those parties together through transportation management systems.
