ProLogis said to be eyeing Indian logistics parks
Global distribution services provider ProLogis is rumored to be eyeing management of several logistics parks in India, the Economic Times reported Friday.
The parks would be located next to the dedicated freight rail corridors being constructed by the Indian government (the two key lines would connect Delhi with Bombay and Calcutta). The railways ministry has planned 16 such logistics parks, and the Indian newspaper reported that ProLogis has hired local consultants to examine how the Denver company might enter India. They already have a presence in China, Japan and Korea, as well as 11 European countries and North America.
The Economic Times quoted a ProLogis spokesman, who only said the company was exploring its opportunities and would make an announcement when appropriate.
