PSA wins Dammam terminal concession
Global terminal operator PSA International said Wednesday it has won a concession from the Saudi Arabian government to develop a second container terminal in the Port of Dammam.
Dammam, on the Persian Gulf, is the largest container port in Saudi Arabia, and most accessible to the capital Riyadh. The new terminal is envisioned to have 1,200 meters of berth, with 12 quay cranes and annual handling capacity of 1.8 million TEUs. It will be developed by a joint venture, dubbed Saudi Ports Global, between Singapore-based PSA and the Public Investment Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

'Dammam represents PSA International’s first port infrastructure project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arabian Gulf,' said PSA Group Chief Executive Eddie Teh. 'We will work closely with our partner and Saudi Ports Authority to transform the Saudi Global Ports terminal into the preferred port of call to support the high trade growth and business activities in the region.'
No date was given for the scheduled opening of the terminal.
