Qatar Airways Cargo launches new service to Phnom Penh

The airline’s new service to Phnom Penh, Cambodia took off Monday with an A330 freighter.    Qatar Airways Cargo has begun its first freighter service to Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Monday with an A330 freighter, the airline said.
   The freighter will fly from Doha to Phnom Penh and back to Doha on a weekly basis, carrying 60 metric tons of cargo each way.
   Garments, Cambodia’s most common manufactured export, will account for the majority of the cargo capacity back to Doha.
   Qatar Airway’s Chief Cargo Officer Ulrich Ogiermann said the Cambodia freighter route “is our fifth freighter destination launched this year, in tandem with our increased fleet size. Intra-Asia air cargo has grown over the years, and we have observed substantial migration of manufacturing trade from China to Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia and Vietnam.”
   Qatar Airways Cargo currently carries 70 metric tons of capacity on passenger flights to Phnom Penh via Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on a weekly basis. The addition of this new direct freighter route will offer increased capacity and flexibility for exporters to transport cargo to any of Qatar Airway’s global network of 150 destinations.
