QUOTESHIP.COM NAMES SIMMONS CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Ed Simmons has been named chief financial officer of QuoteShip.com, the Boston-based business-to-business, Internet based auction service for shippers and transport providers.
Simmons was director of distributed architecture at Merrill Lynch, leading the team that took the brokerage firm online in 1995, and overseeing the firm's online trading system that was launched last year.
With QuoteShip, he will oversee operation of the company's online infrastructure and the development of new software technology, including QuoteShip's Biscayne Auction software.
