R.R. Donnelley expands with Express Postal buy

R.R. Donnelley & Sons has broadened its growing logistics services through the acquisition of outbound mailing service provider Express Postal Options International.
Express Postal currently provides outbound services to pharmaceutical, e-commerce, financial services, information technology, catalog, direct mail, and other business industries.
Thomas J. Quinlan III, R.R. Donnelley’s president and chief executive officer, said the company has been in a period of strong organic growth and the Express Postal purchase is meant to expand the range of services it can make available.
The Express buy will fall under R.R. Donnelley’s global third party logistics services, since Express Postal currently manages international outbound mail delivery to more than 150 countries. It will be introduced into packages that already contain R.R. Donnelley’s logistics services, such as co-mailing, co-binding, and co-palletization, as well as its 3PL services covering less-than-truckload, full truckload, intermodal, domestic and international air, courier, ocean, and expedited air.
R.R. Donnelley mainly provides global integrated communications services for more than 60,000 customers worldwide. The company began with conventional mailing and communications offerings, but has made a big push into the digital space with Web-based pre-media, printing, logistics, and business process outsourcing services. – Geoff Whiting
