Total carloads for December were 107,450, up 6.0 percent from 101,388 in the same month 2004.
The acquisitions of the Alcoa railroads and the Fremont line in Michigan net of the impact of the sale of the San Luis and Rio Grande Railroad in December and Arizona Eastern Railway in 2004, accounted for 2,729 of December’s increase, RailAmerica said.
RailAmerica operates about 8,800 track miles in the United States and Canada.
