REFITTING OF WALLENIUS WILHELMSEN CON/RO SHIP IS COMPLETED

The Chinese shipyard Nantong Ship Engineering has completed the refitting of the “Taiko,” a multipurpose ship operated by the Scandinavian roll-on/roll-off shipping group Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines.

Wallenius Wilhelmsen has decided to remove the container capacity of four of its largest container/ro-ro ships, as part of a switch to the car sector. The 2,455-TEU “Taiko,” “Tampa” and “Texas,” and the 2,800-TEU “Taronga” are being converted from container/ro-ro carriers to pure ro-ro vessels.
