Remaining Hamburg Sud 5,552-TEU ships to join Europe/Brazil route

Remaining Hamburg Sud 5,552-TEU ships to join Europe/Brazil route Hamburg Sud will take delivery next month of the sixth and final 5,552-TEU containership due to operate in its Europe/East Coast South America service.
   Hamburg Sud said the new vessels feature 1,365 reefer container plugs and have the largest containerized reefer capacity of any ships operating in the world today. The fourth ship in the series, the “Monte Rosa,” recently made its first calls at Brazil’s largest port, Santos.
   The German carried has an additional 16 ships on order, comprising six 3,200-TEU ships set for 2007 delivery, and 10 of 5,500 TEUs with deliveries set for 2008. It will determine on which trade route to deploy these ships, depending on market situation nearer the time of delivery.
