Report: N.Y.-N.J. Port Authority employees big earners The Record newspaper in New Jersey reports that nearly 1,200 employees of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey earn a base salary of $100,000 or more each year.
   The newspaper said 16.5 percent of the agency’s employees have six-digit salaries — three times the percentage at regional transit agencies such as New York City Transit, N.J. Transit and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. Among the high earners are 236 of the agency’s police officers.
   The port authority has 7,203 employees and its operations include the port, airports, a commuter railroad, tunnels, bridges and commercial real estate development such as the World Trade Center.
