Restoration Hardware hammers out deal with GT Nexus

Restoration Hardware hammers out deal with GT Nexus Specialty home retailer Restoration Hardware Inc. has signed a deal with Alameda-based GT Nexus to provide the retailer's global transportation management platform.
   Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
   The GT Nexus Trade and Logistics Portal platform was successfully used for the 2007 ocean transportation bid, including optimization of the transportation spend and carrier allocations. Finalized agreements have been converted into digitized service contracts, which will be managed by Restoration Hardware and its ocean carriers.
   Headquartered in Corte Madera, the $581 million Restoration Hardware operates 103 retail stores and eight outlet stores in 30 states, the District of Columbia and Canada.
   The entire GT Nexus platform is provided on-demand, over the Web. Restoration Hardware, carriers and other logistics partners will be able to work together through a common set of Web applications. All data, including rates and service terms, is captured online in standardized formats. According to GT Nexus this will allow for better, faster comparison of proposals.
