RFID providers join forces

   The radio frequency identification (RFID) companies SML Group and Nordic ID have joined forces, the companies said in a statement Tuesday.
   SML is a global supplier of brand identification labels and RFID data solutions, while Nordic ID is a RFID technology specialist.
   The new bundled solutions offer Nordic ID RFID handheld readers that have been configured to run with SML’s ViziT retail and supply chain applications. The initial package is designed for in-plant applications, allowing RFID labels to be printed and encoded at the garment manufacturers’ site.
   Additional supply chain and retail applications are planned for release in 2013.
   “We worked hard to build software applications on our readers that interface with the SML ViziT program and we have strived to offer a simple solution that is easy to install and simple to operate,” said Jorma Lalla, Nordic ID Chief Executive Officer, in a statement. – Eric Johnson
