Rhenus Group acquires Rodair

The German logistics services provider made the purchase to help establish its network in Canada.

   German-based logistics services provider Rhenus Group announced Monday it had acquired customized logistics solutions specialist Rodair to establish a network in Canada.
   Jörn Schmersahl, Rhenus’ CEO of Air & Ocean Americas, said the acquisition gives the company “experienced employees with local expertise for the global operations of the air and ocean business unit at Rhenus Freight Logistics.”
   The terms of the purchase, which is subject to approval by the relevant authorities, were not disclosed.
   Headquartered in Toronto, Rodair’s business activities include international freight forwarding, project logistics, courier, warehousing and distributions, 3PL services and e-commerce solutions. The company, founded in 1996, also focuses on providing customs clearance with dedicated in-house teams in Toronto and Vancouver. Its customers mainly consist of members of the fashion, retail, automotive, pharmaceutical and mining industries, according to the press release announcing the sale.
   Rhenus specializes in contract, freight and port logistics and public transport. The company has sites in 610 locations worldwide and employees 29,000 people.
