Rickmers Maritime takes early delivery of 4,250-TEU CMA CGM Onyx

Rickmers Maritime takes early delivery of 4,250-TEU CMA CGM Onyx Singapore-based business trust Rickmers Maritime has taken early delivery of the 4,250-TEU containership CMA CGM Onyx, originally scheduled to arrive from Dalian Shipyard on March 1.
   The vessel will now commence an eight-year fixed rate time charter with French shipping line CMA CGM.
   Rickmers has a fleet of 23 containerships, comprising nine vessels in operation, ranging in size from 3,450 TEUs to 5,060 TEUs, and a further 13 contracted or committed vessels, ranging from 3,450 TEUs to 13,100 TEUs. Rickmers also has the purchase option on one additional vessel, which is exercisable this month.
   'With the delivery of CMA CGM Onyx we have completed our initial contracted newbuilding program well ahead of schedule,' said Thomas Preben Hansen, chief executive officer of Rickmers Trust Management Pte. Ltd. 'With the early delivery of our initial contracted fleet, we are able to enjoy a better than forecasted cash flow.'
   In view of the early delivery of the vessel, Rickmers Trust Management and Polaris Shipmanagement Co. Ltd., the seller of the vessel, may renegotiate the payment terms.
