The service includes less-than-trailerload guaranteed service, LTL expediting, a new domestic service called Weekend Express, and traditional and international expediting. According to a press release, R+L’s on-service time performance stands at 99.87 percent.
“R+L Carriers has incorporated a robust, flexible and affordable portfolio of services to meet the increasing demands of our customers,” the company’s Greg Bronner, who is vice president of the new service suite, said in a statement. “In order to help businesses compete in a domestic and international supply chain environment, we created a system of strategic air and ground solutions that enable us to deliver freight on our customers’ timeline.”
The new services have been introduced to take advantage of the just-in-time manufacturing model, where companies forgo stocked inventories in favor of ordering goods only when needed. The new Weekend Express, which guarantees that shipments sent out on Friday arrive at their destination on Monday, is geared to helping manufacturers achieve these shifting supply-chain goals.
Last summer, the company updated its e-communication processes to comply with a Canadian Border Service Agency law requiring advanced electronic submission of cargo data, which went into effect Nov. 1. The beginning of November also marked the opening of R+L’s new service center in Little Rock, Ark. – Jon Ross
