Roadrunner profits slide 7.6% in 2015

The asset-light trucking and third-party logistics company’s three operating segments all experienced year-over-year revenue declines in the fourth quarter of 2015.

The asset-light trucking and third-party logistics company Roadrunner Transportation Systems reached a net income of $12.1 million for the fourth quarter of 2015 and revenues of $490.9 million, a year-over-year drop of 2 percent and 7.8 percent, respectively, according to the company’s most recent unaudited financial statements.
Operating profits for the quarter inched up 0.2 percent from the fourth quarter of 2014 to $24.3 million.
Roadrunner’s truckload logistics segment posted revenues of $305 million for the fourth quarter, a 2.1 percent year-over-year decline, which the company primarily attributed to lower fuel surcharge revenues.
The less-than-truckload segment saw revenues tumble 16 percent from the fourth quarter of 2014 to $118.4 million, which resulted from lower fuel surcharge revenues and weak freight demand in the general industrial markets the company services.
Roadrunner’s global solutions segment’s revenue for the quarter fell 11.1 percent year-over-year to $76.2 million, primarily because of lower volumes across all customers.
Overall, for the full-year, Roadrunner’s net income reached $48 million, a 7.6 percent decline from 2014. Operating profits for 2015 totaled $96.7 million, while revenues reached $2 billion, a year-over-year increase of 1 percent and 6.5 percent, respectively.
