Robert Mauro, head of Team Worldwide, dies

Mauro served on the board of the Airforwarders Association.    Robert Mauro, president of Team Worldwide and director of the Airforwarders Association, has died, according to the forwarders’ group.
   In a note to members, AfA Executive Director Brandon Fried wrote, “Robert’s dedication and service to the board of the Airforwarders Association will always be remembered. Most of all, however, we will miss his warm smile and charming personality.”
   According to a bio published by the AfA, Mauro attended school at Texas A&M University. His first job in airfreight came with Burlington Northern Air Freight in 1979, where he first worked as a sales representative. He was fresh off four years of reserve service with the U.S. Air Force after two years of active duty, and he later went on to work at Intertrans, Inc., before returning to Burlington, which had become BAX, for four more years.
   Mauro had worked at Team Worldwide since 1990, joining as an independent branch owner and ascending to the presidency in 2007. His three-year term on the AfA board began in 2013.
