McMillen received many awards, including Transportation Club of Tacoma’s Man of the Year 1985; Puget Sound Maritime Man of the Year 1986; Merle Adlum Labor-Management Maritime Man of the Year 1991, and the 2000 Torchy Award given by the Washington Athletic Club.
