Rotterdam-Dourges rail shuttle set to launch in Q1 2016

Intermodal operator Shuttlewise, in cooperation with Novatrans, will commence a rail shuttle between Rotterdam, Netherlands and Dourges, France, which will initially run five times a week.    Netherlands-based intermodal operator Shuttlewise in cooperation with Novatrans will commence a regular rail shuttle between Rotterdam, Netherlands and Dourges, France in the first quarter of 2016, the Port of Rotterdam Authority said.
   The service, which will initially run five times a week, will carry a diverse mix of cargo, including both continental and maritime cargo.
   From Dourges, which is situated 113 miles north of Paris, there are road and rail connections for containers, tanks and swap bodies with Southern France, Spain, Italy, Romania and Turkey.
   “We will connect Rotterdam by rail to all of France,” Shuttlewise General Manager Martijn Elbers said in a statement. “Dourges offers a direct connection to all corners of France via the seven Novatrans shuttles and the Green Modal service to Marseille. For France, we unlock an efficient connection to many short sea and other destinations via Rotterdam.”
   Shuttlewise already operates shuttle services between Mortara, Italy and Krefeld, Germany; Mortara and Gent, Belgium; and Mortara and Rotterdam.
