Russia planning major box terminal expansion

Igor Levitin, Russia’s acting Minister of Transport, has unveiled plans to increase annual container traffic in the country to 15 million TEUs by 2015, reports the Vladivostok Times.

   The project calls for the development of ports and neighboring special economic zones, in particular the increasing of box capacities in Vostochnyi (Nakhodka) to 5 million TEUs, Baltiysk to 3.5 million TEUs, Ust-Luga to 3 million TEUs, and Novorossiysk to 2 million TEUs.
