Russian ice rink airlifted to Guatemala You wouldn't expect there would be any demand for express shipments of ice rinks to Guatemala, but with a selection committee for the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games scheduled to meet there in early July, the Russian city of Sochi has shipped a rink from Moscow to Guatemala in an effort to sway the selection decision.
   Air cargo carrier Volga-Dnepr said an air freighter departed Moscow this morning carrying the rink. It will form the main arena for Russia's final presentation to the Olympic committee, the company said.

Parts of an ice skating rink bound for Guatemala are loaded onto a Volga-Dnepr freighter Wednesday morning in Moscow.

   The pitching process will also include a July 3 trip to Guatemala by Russian President Vladimir Putin, who will make a personal appeal for the selection of Sochi as the host of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
