Russia’s Rosmorport gets new icebreaker

RussiaÆs Rosmorport gets new icebreaker    The Russian seaport of Rosmorport has received delivery of a new diesel electric line icebreaker, named the St. Petersburg, from United Industrial Corp.'s Baltiysky Zavod shipyard.
   The vessel will operate in Gulf of Finland in the winter of 2009.
   United Industrial Corp. shipyards build multifunctional icebreakers. The icebreaker Moskva was completed by OPK and delivered in December 2008, which became the first vessel to be built at a domestic plant in 34 years.
   The St. Petersburg is the second diesel-electric line icebreaker built by OPK for Rosmorport. The icebreaker is designed for escorting large tankers and general towing operations for vessels in icy and open waters, the company said.
