The acquisition is expected to be finalized in May.
'Gator Leasing has been a strong transportation provider and respected competitor in Florida and we are pleased to have them become a part of Ryder,' said Ryder Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Greg Swienton, in a statement.
Per the terms of the transaction, Ryder, also based in Miami, will buy Gator's truck fleet of about 2,300 lease and rental units and about 300 contract customers served by Gator from nine locations in Florida.
Gator started operations more than three decades ago with three trucks. Today, Gator provides a range of full service leasing, contract maintenance services, dedicated contract carriage and commercial rentals of trucks, tractors and trailers.
