Safmarine names executives for revamped sales, customer service units

Safmarine names executives for revamped sales, customer service units

Safmarine Container Lines, part of the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group, has made two executive appointments to head its newly separated sales and customer service divisions.

   Jan Scheck has been named as Safmarine’s global sales and marketing executive. He was responsible for the commercial and operational activities of A.P. Moller-Maersk in Sub-Saharan Africa.

   Rudi Labeau, Safmarine’s key accounts executive, is now the carrier’s global customer service and service delivery executive.

   Both Scheck and Labeau are based in Safmarine’s head office in Antwerp, Belgium.

   Explaining the decision to restructure the sales and customer service units, Ivan Heesom-Green, Safmarine’s chief executive officer, said: “While Safmarine’s customer focus has contributed significantly to our past growth, we believe the current shipping environment requires a more dedicated approach, one that will differentiate Safmarine from its competitors and allow us to grow in partnership with our customers in the years ahead.”
