Safmarine nets $186 million through Q3

The liner carrier Safmarine said in a statement this week it made $186 million in net profit in the first three quarters of 2010 on revenue of $2.4 billion.

The carrier, a subsidiary of Maersk Line since 1999, also said it moved 1.2 million TEUs from January through September. The line didn't offer comparable statistics for its financial and volume performance in previous years.

Safmarine's performance is rolled into that of Maersk Line, which earlier this month announced record operating profits of $2.5 billion through the first three quarters. Safmarine's volume represents roughly 11 percent of the Maersk group.
