SAFMARINE REDUCES EUROPE/EAST AFRICA COVERAGE UNTIL NEXT YEAR

A.P. Moller subsidiary Safmarine Container Lines has ended its participation as a slot charter partner on two Europe/East Africa services and announced its intention to start its own container service in the trade next March.

Until Sept. 24, Safmarine had taken space on the two strings of Europe/East Africa Conference members Mediterranean Shipping Co., P&O Nedlloyd Container Line, H. Stinnes Linien, Kenya National Shipping Line and West European Container Lines. Yemen Gulf Line also has space on the two services.

Until the new service starts next year Samarine will only have one conventional service between Europe and East Africa, a monthly one-way sailing from Antwerp to Lobito, Dar es Salaam and Mombasa.
