SAFMARINE, UNICORN IN AFRICAN COASTAL VENTURE

SAFMARINE, UNICORN IN AFRICAN COASTAL VENTURE    South African transport group Grindrod Ltd. and Safmarine Container Lines N.V., an affiliate of A.P. Moller, have formed a joint venture for African coastal liner shipping services.
   Subject to regulatory approval, the new venture, Unifeeder (Pty) Ltd., will operate in the coastal range between Luanda, in Angola, and Mombasa, in Kenya. It will absorb the existing coastal shipping activities of Unicorn, a subsidiary of Grindrod. Grindrod has served the African coastal trades for more than 60 years.
   The new joint venture will market its services under the names Unicorn and Unifeeder. It will provide feeder connections for international carriers within the port range.
