Samskip opens Seoul office

Samskip opens Seoul office    Icelandic shipping-to-logistics company Samskip has opened an office in Seoul, South Korea to handle the increased volumes of refrigerated goods moving to and from Asia.
   The new office’s main activities involve forwarding and reefer logistics and is Samskip’s fifth office in Asia, after Busan in South Korea, Dalian and Qingdao in China and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Samskip now has 56 offices in 22 countries around the world.
   “Transport of frozen and chilled goods to and from Asia has increased substantially in recent years, and we have experienced the increase here at Samskip,” said Einar Thor Gudjonsson, Samskip’s vice president of reefer logistics. “The opening of the new office demonstrates Samskip’s continued expansion in the high growth area of Eastern Asia and the company’s commitment to serving the interests of its customers.”

   Young-Hak Kim has been appointed director of the new office. Kim previously worked for P&O Swire in the region.
