San Berdo County trade mission visits Hong Kong    Officials from San Bernardino County will wrap up a two-day trade mission to Hong Kong Tuesday, where the three-member delegation has been seeking to bolster and develop commercial relations with Chinese government officials, businesses and entrepreneurs.
   The Hong Kong mission is part of an eight-day Chinese visit by the county's three-member team, including Paul Biane, Chairman of the County of San Bernardino Board of Supervisors. Representatives of more than a dozen San Bernardino County firms are also on the trip to meet with their Chinese business counterparts.
   “Our goal is to help companies in San Bernardino County engage the global marketplace in search of new opportunities to grow and thrive,” Biane said. “China is both the fastest growing economy and the fastest developing consumer market. China is also our largest trading partner. This is an important opportunity for local businesses.”
   The Hong Kong swing-through included visits with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, Li & Fung Ltd., and Shaw Studios, one of the top names in Hong Kong film production. Members of the delegation will also be meeting with potential trade partners in Suzhou and Shanghai.
   This is the second trade mission to Hong Kong and China for officials from San Bernardino, the nation's largest county and home to many of the distribution and warehousing facilities tied to the Southern California ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles. The county's first Hong Kong trade mission, an eight-day visit last year, comprised more than 130 meetings and yielded an estimated $65 million in new business for the county.
