SAP releases update to transportation management system

   SAP this week released the latest version of its transportation management software.
   Version 9.1 of SAP Transportation Management has extended the software provider’s reach, enabling both buying- and selling-side capabilities for analyzing, collaborating on and creating freight agreements with through its strategic freight management solution.
   The new platform also adds a collaboration portal to allow for real-time communication between shippers, logistics service providers, freight forwarders and their carriers. The update also has expanded load optimization and parcel management functionalities.
   “The viability of these latest solutions has been vetted through our customers, who will use new capabilities to meet the challenges they face in a complex supply-chain landscape,” said Hans Thalbauer, senior vice president, line-of-business solutions for supply chain at SAP.
