SAP to acquire Visiprise

Waldorf, Germany-based business software giant SAP AG said Tuesday it plans to complete the acquisition of privately held Alpharetta, Ga.-based software provider Visiprise Inc. by the end of July.

Visiprise, which provides manufacturing execution software to the manufacturing sector, employs about 300 employees and maintains additional offices in Carlsbad, Calif., and Kiev, Ukraine.

Financial details of the deal were not released.

SAP said in a statement that the acquisition is a component in its 'Perfect Plant' strategy to bring together core SAP solutions with key partners to 'drive innovation for discrete manufacturers.' Incorporating Visiprise's plant-level manufacturing execution solutions will, according to SAP, 'offer discrete manufacturing customers a product offering designed to increase production responsiveness, improve operational efficiencies and enhance quality and regulatory compliance.'

Visiprise serves more than 60 global customers, including many SAP customers, in discrete manufacturing industries including high-tech, aerospace and defense, automotive and medical device.
