SAP vet Apotheker joins GT Nexus board

On-demand trade software developer GT Nexus has appointed former SAP chief executive L'o Apotheker to its board of directors, the Oakland-based company said Tuesday.

'Over the course of his more than 20-year tenure at SAP he played a leading role in vaulting that company to its position as the largest business software applications vendor in the world,' GT Nexus said in a statement.

Apotheker was a member of SAP's executive board from 2002 to February 2010, and also serves on the board at Schneider Electric SA.

'The next wave in business software is going to be network platforms like GT Nexus,” Apotheker said. “These newer cloud-based systems were designed to go beyond the bounds of a single enterprise and connect entire trading communities — which is what ultimately enables highly agile business networks. GT Nexus is at the forefront of this revolution, a leader with a proven track record, and they're focused on one of the biggest opportunities around: global trade and logistics.'

“We are very excited and pleased to have L'o with us,” said Aaron Sasson, chairman and CEO of GT Nexus. “His industry experience and knowledge will be huge assets for us as we expand and continue building traction as the mission-critical infrastructure that companies rely on for global trade.”
