The CMS system, already being utilized by the U.S. Defense Department, NATO and the defense forces of seven other countries, incorporates radio frequency identification equipment to allow supplies to be automatically located, tracked and managed while in-transit.
Financial details of the deal were not released.
The contract calls for the Savi CMS to track Swedish Army, Navy and Air Force consignments for national and multinational operations.
“Following extensive testing, we selected Savi Technology’s Consignment Management Solution to enhance real-time visibility, efficiency, accuracy and timeliness of our supply chain operations,” said Lt. Col. Peter Fagrell of the Swedish Armed Forces, in a release. “We anticipate Savi CMS will also improve our ability to collaborate more closely with NATO and other allies to deploy the right supplies to the right people and places at the right time.”
The CMS system provides added visibility of consignments as they move through military supply chain networks. Based on an active RFID network using international and NATO standards, the system's RFID components transmit real-time information to Savi’s software platform and application. CMS also processes real-time data transmissions from other types of identification equipment, such as bar codes, passive RFID and GPS satellite location systems.
