Savi signs deal with Hong Kong terminal operator MTL Savi Networks has signed an agreement to extend their SaviTrak information service to Hong Kong facilities operated by Modern Terminals Ltd.
   Savi Networks and Modern Terminals declined to state financial details of the agreement.
   SaviTrak's installation at Modern Terminals' facilities will automate visibility of radio frequency identification (RFID)-sealed containers and their contents, providing the terminal operator and its customers with real-time location and status information, automated alerts and data for analyses.
   Mountain View, Calif.-based Savi Networks has partnerships with more than 80 terminals worldwide. The SaviTrak information service uses technologies that collect and process real-time data from RFID devices such as electronic seals.
   SaviTrak also receives and processes information from other Automatic Identification and Data Collection (AIDC) technologies, such as passive RFID and global positioning systems (GPS) used to track ships and trucks transporting ocean containers.
   Savi Networks, is a joint venture between Bethesda, Md.-based Lockheed Martin subsidiary Savi Technology Inc. and Hutchison Port Holdings, based in Kwai Chung, Hong Kong.
