Savi teams with Litium in Scandinavian push

Lockheed Martin logistics systems subsidiary Savi said Tuesday it has teamed with Swedish firm Litium Mobile Applications to provide radio frequency identification devices and other wireless-based services to government, defense and commercial organizations in Scandinavia.

The two firms previously worked together to deliver the Savi Consignment Management Solution, which automatically locates, tracks and manages in-transit supplies, for the Swedish Armed Forces and Denmark Ministry of Defense.

Mountain View, Calif.-based Savi has helped build RFID-based tracking networks at more than 4,000 locations in more than 45 countries for defense forces worldwide, including the United States, NATO, Poland, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Australia.

'Litium Mobile Applications has proven to be an effective partner in opening doors to new markets and providing support to implement our solutions throughout the Scandinavian region,' said David Shannon, Savi Technology's senior vice president of marketing, product management and Strategy.

'The combination of Savi as a leading RFID solution provider with the regional business expertise of Litium Mobile Applications will enable customers throughout Scandinavia to cut transportation costs, enhance service levels and provide competitive advantages,' said Hans B'rjesson, CEO of Litium Mobile Applications.
