SCFI flat since last week

Spot container rates from Shanghai to Europe and the Mediterranean declined since last Friday, while rates increased from Shanghai to the United States.

   The Shanghai Shipping Exchange’s Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) remained flat compared to last Friday, as rate declines from Shanghai to Europe and the Mediterranean offset increases from Shanghai to the United States.
   The SCFI currently stands at a reading of 774.60, compared to last Friday’s reading of 774.27.
   Rates from Shanghai to Europe fell 5.3 percent since last week, from $812 per TEU to $769 per TEU, while rates from Shanghai to the Mediterranean fell 3.7 percent, from $758 per TEU to $730 per TEU.
   Meanwhile, rates from Shanghai to the U.S. West Coast rose 7.7 percent since last week, from $1,473 per FEU to $1,586 per FEU, while rates from Shanghai to the U.S. East Coast inched up 1.7 percent, from $2,231 per FEU to $2,269 per FEU.
