SCFI slips 1.8%

Although rates from Shanghai to Europe and the Mediterranean increased since last Friday, rates from Shanghai to the United States declined.    The Shanghai Shipping Exchange’s Shanghai Containerized Freight Index fell 1.8 percent from last Friday’s reading of 830.46 to a reading of 815.10.

   Since last week, rates from Shanghai to Europe rose 7.3 percent, from $858 per TEU to $921 per TEU, while rates from Shanghai to the Mediterranean jumped 4.5 percent, from $844 per TEU to $882 per TEU.
   Meanwhile, rates from Shanghai to the U.S. West Coast tumbled 6.8 percent since last week, from $1,771 per FEU to $1,650 per FEU, while rates from Shanghai to the U.S. East Coast fell 4.9 percent, from $3,214 per FEU to $3,055 per FEU.
