Schenker established Middle East, East Africa regional base

Deutsche Bahn subsidiary Schenker has set up a regional head office for the Middle East and East Africa in Dubai through a joint venture with the former BAX Global partner Al Naboodah.

From the new Dubai base, Schenker will coordinate its activities in the following countries: United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tansania and Uganda.

The company said it also has plans to set up more country organizations within the Middle East and East Africa.

“This will now enable us to offer our customers in Dubai complete high quality solutions from a single source,” said Thomas C. Lieb, member of Schenker’s management board responsible for global air and ocean freight.

Schenker recently launched a direct air freight service from Dubai via Hahn in Germany to Toledo, Ohio.
