Schenker expands North China footprint

   In a bid to extend its coverage, Berlin-based DB Schenker’s China arm has established a new office in Hohhot, the capital of the Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region.
   Hohhot is the first Schenker China location opened in the Inner Mongolia province. Hohhot’s main industry products are medicine, wind power, coal, machine tools, and fiber optic cable, according to Schenker, which called Hohhot one of the “most dynamic cities in China’s economic development.”
   DB Shenker was an early entrant of international forwarders in Mainland China, with service starting in the late 1970s and a Beijing office opening in 1982. Today the company offers multimodal freight forwarding and logistics offerings for land transport, air, and ocean freight. It has offices and facilities in 57 Chinese cities, employing more than 4,600 workers.
