SCHENKER MERGES GERMAN LOGISTICS SUBSIDIARIES

   Schenker AG, Essen, will merge its two subsidiary companies in Germany, Schenker-BTL (Deutscheland) AG and Schenker International Deutscheland GmbH, to form a single company, Schenker Deutschland AG.

   The company merges the firms activities in land transport, air and sea freight and all associated logistics services, creating the largest integrated logistics service provider in the German market, the company said. The merged firm will have 9,100 employees and annual turnover of about 3.4 billion marks.

   Hans-J'rg Hager will be chairman of the management board. Michael Korn is vice chairman. Michael Lanzke will have responsibility for the transport in Germany, Klaus-Dieter Peters for transport in    Europe. Holger K'hlenbeck will be responsible for the logistics division and Gunter Schulz for the fairs and special transport division. Hugo Ruhmann will be responsible for controlling/accounting.
