Schenker opens logistics center at Rostock

Deutsche Bahn AG logistics subsidiary Schenker has opened a new logistics center at the Port of Rostock, Germany, the company said Wednesday.

Schenker said it is aiming to extend its position as a leading European supplier of land transport services.

'This strategically significant investment in an additional multimodal interface between the different carriers ' truck, ship and rail ' will enhance the quality of our uniquely effective European network,' said Hans-J'rg Hager, chief executive officer of Schenker Deutschland AG, in a statement. 'Customers will benefit directly from this expansion of our existing partial load and complete load shipments, which makes sense in both economic and ecological terms.'

Schenker noted Rostock's infrastructure and roll-on/roll-off services as key reasons for locating the logistics center at the German port.
