SCHENKER-SEINO LOGISTICS VENTURE STARTS TRADING

A joint venture between Germany’s Schenker AG and Seino Transportation Co. Ltd., of Japan, has started trading.

Schenker-Seino Logistics Co., Ltd., located in Tokyo, was established on Feb. 17 in Japan, and started business. The setting up of the joint venture follows the agreement between Schenker and Seino, last October, to form a strategic alliance.

Schenker-Seino Logistics will offer logistics services and use a worldwide network of 1,500 branches of Seino and Schenker in about 100 countries.

Schenker said that Schenker-Seino Logistics is targeting automobile, automotive parts, electronics and apparel industries as its potential customers base.

In addition, Seino plans to construct a 8,250-square-meter logistics center at Narita airport for Schenker-Seino Logistics, to be completed in March 2001.
