Schmitz appointed director of compliance at WCO
As expected, the Brussels-based World Customs Organization has elected Michael T. Schmitz, currently assistant commissioner, regulations and rulings, at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, to become the international organization’s next director of compliance and trade facilitation, effective Jan. 1.
He will succeed Jouko Lempiainen, of Finland, who is expected to return to the Finnish customs.
