Schneider Intermodal eases restrictions on cross-border service into Mexico

The truckload, intermodal and logistics services provider now offers intermodal shippers easier cross-border clearance and inspection services for certain commodities that originate in the United States or Canada destined for Mexico via rail.    Schneider now offers intermodal shippers easier cross-border clearance and inspection services for certain commodities that originate in the United States or Canada destined for Mexico via rail, according to a statement from the company.
Effective immediately, Schneider Intermodal can transport peat moss, pet food, soy bean flour and cream substitutes into Mexico with inspections at the Puerto Mexico Intermodal Terminal at Toluca instead of at the border, which saves cross-border shippers time and money.
Centrally located in Mexico, Toluca is located approximately 36 miles west of Mexico City.
The initial four commodities are part of a pilot program in which additional commodities are expected to be added when the pilot concludes.
The company worked with Servicio Nacional de Sanidad, Inocuidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria, Mexico’s equivalent of the United States Food and Drug Administration, to simplify the cross-border clearance and inspection process.
Schneider offers a variety of solutions including regional, long-haul, expedited, dedicated, bulk, intermodal, brokerage, cross-dock logistics, supply chain management and port logistics. Based out of Green Bay, Wis., the company provides services throughout North America and China.
